Psychotherapy for Teens and Adults from Brooklyn to Long Island and upstate NY

From NYC to Long Island and Upstate

Psychotherapy can be an exciting, transformational journey that helps clients experience greater contentment, confidence, and the joy of being in their true inner self. I see myself as an expert but also a guide, and I believe that each person’s personal truth lies within.

I have been fascinated by psychotherapy and the psyche since I was in high school, and consider myself very fortunate to do the work I do. Soon after I graduated from NYU School of Social Work, I took a course with Dr. Bessel van der Kolk (one of the foremost trauma experts in the field) and that was the beginning of my lifelong learning about trauma and how to help survivors lose their shame and sense of responsibility so that they can lead fulfilling lives. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy® (a powerful approach that integrates treatment of the body with mindfulness to heal trauma.) I am also trained in other trauma-focused therapies, psychodynamic therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I also have an extensive background in treating stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder), childhood sexual abuse, grief and relationship issues. I enjoy working with teens, young adults and adults. Most of all, I get the greatest satisfaction when people are able to use what they learn in therapy to make significant changes in themselves and their relationships, and experience greater happiness and satisfaction with their lives.

Congratulations on taking the first step

Psychotherapy involves talking through issues and often connecting them to earlier points in your life; learning new tools to help change negative patterns; and using the mind and body to experience feelings, relief, and healing from painful events. With psychotherapy, people can become happier, healthier, and more in control of their lives.

You may reach out to a psychotherapist for any number of reasons, and may benefit from talking to someone who is warm, empathic, objective, and has a sense of humor. I can help.
